Frequently Asked Questions about Halloween Contacts

It’s important to consider item availability and the shipping option selected. Orders placed for in stock items by 2pm CST will usually ship within 1 to 2 business days after the prescription verification process is completed. If there are any problems processing your order you will be notified as soon as possible by our staff. If your order MUST arrive by a specific day, choose the shipping method accordingly and make sure your Eye Doctor is aware that we will be sending a verification form!

Shipping rates quoted are estimates based on the information you have supplied on the shopping cart page and are calculated by weight and point of delivery. Rates quoted here are based on UPS and USPS published rates. Shipping rates do not include duties, taxes or other non-routine customs brokerage charges.

Depending on how often they are worn and how well you care for them, most of our special fx contact lenses can last up to 1 year from the date they are opened. You should change the solution every 30 days after opening them to keep them at their best.

We do recommend that you consult your eye care professional for a fitting, especially if you’ve never worn contact lenses. Your doctor will instruct you in wearing and caring for your lenses which is crucial for the health of your eyes and for maximizing the lifespan of your contacts. Mishandling the lenses can easily result in damaging them. (See: How long will special fx contact lenses last?) Our contacts are all medium base curve like most national brands. They fit 98% of people. Only certain color contacts lenses listed can be made within a range of correction (-0.25 to -6.00), everything else is available in plano (0.00). Toric lenses are NOT available. As with any contact lens, if you experience more than mild, temporary discomfort, take your lenses out.

Eye care professionals recommend against layering (piggybacking) contact lenses for health and safety reasons. We do NOT recommend this. If you choose to do it, you do so at your own risk, and we will not assume any liability. We have a variety of affordable stock lenses available in corrective powers.

Special FX contact lenses are imprinted with colored patterns to cover the iris of your eye. Custom Theatrical lenses are painted with special pigments to disguise the color of your own eyes. Some styles can be translucent while others are opaque. Unless otherwise noted (Blind or Walking Dead styles), each style has a small area in the center with no pigment so that you can see. The area doesn’t change size in response to light like your own pupils do so the lenses can affect your vision with what is described as a “haze/halo” depending on the lighting situation.

The lenses are also slightly thicker than your daily wear lenses. You will feel them more than your daily wear lenses. While the material is similar, it is not the exact same. You will need to use contact lens drops to keep your eyes moist.

Regular special fx contact lenses cover only the colored part of your eye, the iris, but scleral lenses are much larger and also cover the white part of your eye, the sclera. For this reason, we urge you to see an optometrist to ensure a proper fit will be possible before you order scleral contact lenses. Diameter for full sclera lenses is set at 22, and the base curve is 9.0. Your unique eyes may or may not be suited to wearing this type of lens. Because they are bigger than regular lenses, scleral contacts can be difficult to insert. Be prepared to practice. Abundant lubrication (eye drops made for contact lenses) is also recommended. Limit wear time to a maximum of 3 or 4 hours, and use contact-safe eye drops often. Scleral lenses may also diminish your vision more than regular theatrical contacts because in addition to having a fixed, small “pupil,” the large diameter of the lenses themselves prevents them from having the same range of motion as your eyeballs. This vision hindrance compounds the effects of the “haze” (also present in other theatrical lenses) which varies from slight to extreme depending on the amount of available light. Avoid wearing them in low light situations, or exercise extreme caution if you must enter a dim area.

When you receive your special fx contact lenses, you must inspect them as carefully as possible BEFORE opening the vials. (The label makes this somewhat tricky, but it’s possible to see the lenses.) Check for things such as wrong color or design, discoloration, deformed shape, and cuts or tears. Problems are rare, but if you notice anything unusual, keep the vials sealed, and immediately contact us to explain the problem. NO Refunds or Exchanges will only be processed for unopened contact lens vials. We will submit a exchange order for unopened vials only. The replacement process for painted lenses will take as long as the initial order because another lens will have to be reproduced. Stock lenses will be exchanged immediately once the replacement has been received and reviewed.

No! All of our lenses are occasional wear. We do not recommend sleeping in any contact lens.

No! Sharing lenses with someone increases the risk of contracting an eye infection or another communicable disorder.

Theatrical lenses are made for occasional wear, 3 to 4 hours – for parties and special occasions. They are not intended for daily wear. They are not as thin as daily wear lenses. If you have any trouble, see your Eye Care Professional immediately.

Yes! Most of our lenses are sold as single theatrical lenses and are priced per lens. When purchasing your choice of lens, select the product detail page where you can change the value of the lens in the quantity box to “1” and click “Add to Cart”.

You can order online through this website or by telephone during regular business hours. We do not currently accept orders by email, mail, or fax.

Customers in the United States, please have your Eye Doctor’s Name, Telephone number, and FAX number BEFORE you place your order. We can’t process your order if ANY of this information is missing.

… If they haven’t shipped yet, can I just cancel the order?

It depends.

All sales of custom made to order sales are final. Your order is put into the production queue as soon as possible depending on item. Certain items on our site are made for you when you place your order and no one else. Both and our partners in the lab process all made to order lenses on a first come, first served basis. Sometimes that means a longer wait in a heavy volume of orders. While every order is processed as quickly as possible, we can not guarantee shipping times.

If your order is for in stock items and has not begun to be processed, you can contact us immediately and cancel your order.

Occasionally packages are returned to us as undeliverable. When the carrier returns an undeliverable package to us, we issue a refund (minus 10% restocking fee up to cost of carrier return charges, and the initial shipping charges). We are unable to re-ship orders that are returned to us as undeliverable. If you would still like to purchase items that were undeliverable, you are welcome to place a new order on our Web site. It is important to make sure your address information is correct when placing your order and to monitor your tracking number for delivery.

If you suspect your order cannot be delivered as addressed and you have not received confirmation of its return or refund after 4 weeks from the estimated delivery date, please contact us.

Our carriers may deem a package undeliverable for one of the following reasons:

Incorrect Address. If the address is incorrect or outdated, the package is typically returned to us by the carrier or the unintended recipient. Please double-check your address carefully when placing an order.

Shipping to a Post Office Box. Only US Postal Service will ship to P.O. Boxes. ships with both UPS and US Postal Service. If you will be shipping to a PO Box, please choose US Postal Service as your shipping method during checkout.

Other Address Problems.In rare cases, it is also possible that the address label became illegible during the shipping and handling process.

Failed Delivery Attempts. Most of our carriers make three attempts to deliver a package. Packages that contain more than $400 of merchandise will always require a signature; otherwise, it is generally up to the driver’s discretion to determine whether a signature is required. If the driver feels it is best to obtain a signature and no one is present to accept the delivery after three attempts, the package will be returned to us.

Refused by Recipient. If a gift recipient is not expecting a gift, they may refuse the package if they believe it was sent to them in error. If you still want to send these items, you may want to let the recipient know that a surprise is on the way.

Recipient Signature Required. If your item is considered to be high value, we may require a signature for the carrier to release the order shipment. Please make sure someone will be there to sign for your package to keep your package from being returned to us by the carrier. This may cost you additional delivery charges if the carrier is unable to deliver your order.


Most orders of in stock items ship within 1 to 2 business days (Monday-Friday) after the order is placed. Orders that do not provide all of the Doctor’s information requested during checkout will be delayed.  Please allow time for your Eye Doctor’s office to reply to our request for prescription verification.  For standard UPS Ground or US Postal Service Priority Mail shipping, please allow one week from the time you place your order.  We offer shipping services through Next Day Air services.  Next Day Air orders will ship following verification.

Custom made to order products (i.e. sclera contacts, etc.) will take longer to process.  Please see the Product Description on the detail page of the product you wish to purchase to find the current estimated time for the product to be completed.

When you receive your order, please check the contents carefully. Most lenses are sold in a clear vial.  It is easy to check for things such as wrong color, style, damage, cuts or tears. If you find something wrong, please contact us within 24 to 48 hours of receipt.

To order lenses from, your prescription should contain the following information:

OS: Left Eye
OD: Right Eye
OU: Both Eyes

Power/Sphere: Strength of lenses – a number between –20.00 and +20.00

BC: Base Curve (back curvature of lens) -a number between 8.0 and 10.0

DIA: Diameter (diameter of lens) – a number between 13.0 and 15.0

Please note that our available lenses have the power, base curve, and the diameter for each lens style on their respective product information page under the “product detail”.

If you have any questions regarding your prescription or need to clarify the information about the lens style, please contact your eye care professional. Please note that theatrical lenses are not available in parameters different than what are listed on the Product Detail section of the information page of the product you wish to purchase. If a lens is available in corrective powers, you will be able to select a power before adding the lens to your cart. Your order can NOT be altered to correction if you have ordered plano lenses.

We cannot and will not provide advice about your prescription, corrective requirements. Please contact your eye care professional to find out which lenses are best for you.

If you live in the United States, YES! The FDA considers all contact lenses to be a medical device, even Plano lenses.  This is for YOUR safety! By law, we must follow guidelines put in place by the FDA to verify that you have a current and valid contact lens prescription with your physician before we can ship ANY contact lens order.  There are No Exceptions! During the checkout procedure on our website you will be asked to provide us with your Eye Care professional’s name, telephone number and fax number.  We will then contact them to verify that your contact lens prescription is current and valid.

NO!  Do NOT share contact lenses with a friend, family member, your best bud, girlfriend, boyfriend… ANYONE.  Sharing a contact lens with another person significantly increases the risk of infection. An eye infection is a very nasty thing to deal with and can potentially lead to vision loss.

Not through this site.  This site is for informational purposes only.  We only list lenses that are FDA Approved for your safety, and companies that follow the guidelines put in place by the FDA.  If you are thinking of saving a few bucks and ordering illegal lenses from overseas, think twice! Lenses that are made from materials that have not been approved for import into the U.S. market could damage your eyes permanently.  Don’t buy cheap or dangerous Halloween contacts and risk losing your eye sight.

Plano contacts have no correction, meaning they will not help you seen any better than you already can see. They are listed as (0.00).  All of the Halloween contacts and Theatrical contact lenses we sell are available in Plano.
